In 2023, MAAP MA Automotive Portugal reduced the number of trees planted, but planted larger trees and bought the protection for the trees, with the aim of increasing their growth viability. This means that the trees have been marked with signposts and protection has been put in place so that the trees are not eaten or destroyed by animals.

This environmental initiative was carried out 5 km from the MAAP plant, on land granted by the City Council of Valença for this type of activity. The Municipal Forestry Department, the Forestry Sappers and the Environmental Police of the Nature and Environment Protection Service took part in the activity, which taught children and MA employees how to plant trees.
